Button Installation Instructions

To download a button, just drag it to your desktop (Macintosh), or right-click and "Save image as..." (PC). The URLs below each button lead to the Adobe Player Download Center. These URLs are to be used with the above buttons. Please note that these buttons use GIF transparency; set the border value to "0" in your HTML code (see code example below).

Note: You can send visitors to the Adobe Download Center in a separate window so that they do not leave your site. Just target your link. The value "_blank" will open a new window; if you want to target all external URLs on your site to the same separate window, just name it (e.g., target="my_window"). This will prevent infinite window-spawning.

For example:

<a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" target="_blank" border="0">Button Graphic Here</a>

Button Usage Guidelines

The Adobe buttons must be used according to the following guidelines:

  • Required link
Each Flash Player and Shockwave Player button must always be an active link to its respective URL (listed below each button). All URLs lead to the Player Download Center.

  • Version numbers
Please *do not* refer to version numbers of the Adobe Web Players. They do not necessarily follow the version numbers of their associated authoring products and therefore may confuse users. If you want to encourage visitors to get the latest version of Shockwave Player or Flash Player, state right above the button: "This [site/movie/graphic/etc.] requires the latest version of Adobe Shockwave Player."

  • Required size
The size of the player buttons is 160 by 41 pixels. It should not be scaled to any other size.

  • Required placement
The button must be placed in a prominent spot on your website and must always stand alone (not be combined with any other graphical elements) or be placed against a high-contrast background.

  • No alteration allowed
The Player buttons must not be altered in any way. The button may not be taken apart, changed in proportion, color or fonts, shrunk, or otherwise altered from the art supplied by Adobe Systems Incorporated.

  • Positive presentation
The site must display the Adobe Player buttons in a positive manner. The buttons may not be used to depict Adobe in a negative way.
