With the release of the Adobe® Customer Experience Solutions, built on the Adobe Digital Enterprise Platform (ADEP), the capabilities of various Adobe LiveCycle® modules are now core capabilities within the unified ADEP. The change simplifies ordering and reflects Adobe's focus on delivering solutions for customer experience management (CEM). The following Q&A may be useful for existing LiveCycle customers.
No. All of the current LiveCycle modules have been enhanced as part of the move to the Adobe Digital Enterprise Platform.
There are no plans to put LiveCycle on end-of-life status. The LiveCycle modules that support Document Services continue to run in the same J2EE environment that we already support. Under the new platform, we are moving many existing LiveCycle capabilities to run in the new OSGi environment to provide enhanced capabilities. LiveCycle Data Services will be supported in both environments based on your unique requirements. Refer to the LiveCycle Developer Center for more information.
When you purchase a Customer Experience Solution, the right to use the Adobe Digital Enterprise Platform Standard Edition for that solution is included in the packaging (only for that specific solution use case). Should you require the platform to build other unique custom applications for CEM, the ADEP editions (Basic and Standard) can be purchased separately.
To ease the change to the new platform, we will continue to offer existing customers with current maintenance contracts the ability to upgrade to the latest capabilities available for the specific modules they have licensed. For example, if you have licensed Adobe LiveCycle Reader® Extensions and LiveCycle Forms, you can upgrade to the latest version of those capabilities available in this release.
In addition, we are also offering platform options for the new ADEP. Refer to the platform comparison for more details.
No, in that case, you would need to upgrade to one of the ADEP packages. We will continue to offer the ability to add licenses to the updated versions of the existing modules you already own (that you will receive with current maintenance and support).
When you purchase a CEM solution, the right to use Adobe Digital Enterprise Platform Standard Edition for that solution is included.
You can get access to resources through the LiveCycle Developer Center. As noted, the capabilities described in these papers continue to be available with the new ADEP packages available as upgrade options for existing customers.
Adobe's CEM offering includes a technology platform, the Adobe Digital Enterprise Platform, and a set of Customer Experience Solutions built on ADEP. The platform comes in two editions: Basic and Standard.
With the release of this new platform, the LiveCycle brand will no longer be used. The capabilities of Adobe LiveCycle Enterprise Suite are now part of ADEP.
ADEP provides capabilities that go beyond those that were provided by LiveCycle. At the same time, existing customers can continue to use and upgrade to the new platform for the specific modules they have already licensed. Many of these modules and tools have been enhanced as part of the new platform. If you are an existing customer who wants to either upgrade to one of the new ADEP packages or upgrade to one or more Customer Experience Solutions, contact your local sales representative.
Adobe Customer Experience Solutions are packaged solutions that address particular aspects of the customer interaction lifecycle. They are built upon the ADEP, which provides capabilities and tools for implementing custom solutions to fit your unique requirements and additional use cases beyond our packaged solutions.
CQ5 from Adobe is now part of the Web Experience Management solution.
More of our enterprise customers are pursuing broader business initiatives that require multiple modules to satisfy requirements. We've changed to our model to reflect that activity, simplify the incorporation of new technologies from acquisitions, and to focus our efforts around solving customer experience management challenges.
