Making the most of your software investment
Registering your software is an important part of the process of using and owning Adobe software licenses. It is quick and easy and gives you access to a wide range of benefits and options to make the most of your investment.
Why is registration important?
There are several reasons why you should register your product:
- Protect your investment. You’ll always have access to your serial number in case something happens to your computer.
- Access support. Get the support you need from customer service as well as technical and installation support for applicable products.
- Stay connected to Adobe. Registration entitles you to a wide range of benefits such as notifications of product updates, newsletters, special offers and invitations to Adobe events and seminars.
- Access new Adobe online services. Get complimentary access to CS Live online services. Register your CS5 product or sign up online with an Adobe ID before April 30, 2011, and get 12 months of complimentary access to Adobe® CS Live online services.
- Receive a Complimentary Benefit. Many products are eligible for a complimentary benefit that can help you get the most from your software.
Registering the latest product versions — Creative Suite 5
Creative Suite 5 registration has changed to make getting started with your new CS Live services fast and easy.
- You only need to provide your information once to complete your product registration and gain access to CS Live online services. Just enter your Adobe ID when prompted (typically your e-mail and a valid password), either during the installation of your product or when you launch and start using it.
- You can easily complete or update your Adobe ID profile information later, after you have had an opportunity to experience the new CS5 features and CS Live online services.
- You can even claim a benefit to complement your product or get up to speed faster with CS5 when visiting the Adobe ID profile page on Adobe.com.
Registering the latest product versions — Acrobat X
Acrobat X registration has been changed to make getting started fast and easy.
- You only need to provide your information once to complete your product registration. Just enter your Adobe ID when prompted (typically your e-mail and a valid password), either during the installation of your product or later on when you launch and start using it.
- You can easily complete or update your Adobe ID profile information later, after you have had an opportunity to experience the new Acrobat X features and benefits.
- You can even claim a benefit to complement your product or get up to speed faster with Acrobat X when visiting the Adobe ID profile page on Adobe.com.
Registering prior product versions
Prior versions of Adobe software including Acrobat 9, Creative Suite 4 and many additional products, can be registered right within the product or online at Adobe.com.
Registration within your desktop product
Most versions of Adobe software allow you to register the product when you launch the application on your machine. Complimentary benefits offered in many products are available when registering this way, within your desktop product.
After installing your software and opening it for the first time, a registration screen will prompt you to register by completing a few fields. Just enter the information and click register. Alternatively, you can register within your product at anytime by selecting Help>Registration from your application’s menu toolbar.
Registering online at Adobe.com
Adobe software that supports in-product registration can also be registered anytime online at Adobe.com. To register your software you will need the product serial number and some basic information such as your Adobe ID (your e-mail address) and password.

The free Adobe Reader does not use serial numbers and can only be registered online at Adobe.com.
