Adobe Captivate 4 software is an easy-to-use, rapid eLearning content authoring tool that enables virtually anyone to create powerful and engaging simulations, software demonstrations, scenario-based training, and quizzes without programming or multimedia skills. Based on the industry-leading Adobe Flash® Platform, Adobe Captivate 4 can automatically generate interactive Flash Player compatible content without requiring users to learn the Flash authoring tool. Adobe Captivate content can also be embedded in Adobe PDF files and delivered in the AVI format for streaming on the web, publishing to YouTube™, viewing on AVI-compatible devices, and more.

Only a standard web browser with Flash Player 7 or later is required to view Adobe Captivate content. You can also export content directly to Macromedia® Flash 8 or Adobe Flash CS3 or CS4 Professional software for advanced editing or scripting. Finally, you can import SWF, FLA, and FLV files into any Adobe Captivate 4 project to enhance the content.
Does Adobe Captivate 4 integrate with Adobe Acrobat® Connect™ and Adobe Presenter?
Adobe Captivate 4 provides tight integration with Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro software, enabling authors to add a layer of interactivity to Adobe Presenter presentations and Acrobat Connect Pro online meetings to improve training effectiveness. Yes. Adobe Captivate 4 integrates with Acrobat Connect Pro, Flash Professional, and the Questionmark Perception assessment tool, giving users the power to do more with their simulations. Users can export Adobe Captivate 4 projects to Flash Professional for more complex editing and ActionScript® coding. Integration with Acrobat Connect Pro means users can add interactivity as well as quizzes to Adobe Presenter presentations or live meetings and publish directly to Acrobat Connect Enterprise Server to track and manage courses, learners, and scoring data. SWF files generated by Adobe Captivate 4 can be used with other tools that support the insertion of SWF files, such as Adobe Acrobat or Dreamweaver® software.
Can I import PowerPoint 2007 projects into Adobe Captivate 4?
You can import projects created in Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 in the PPTX format, as well as the PPT format, in Adobe Captivate 4. You can edit PowerPoint content in Adobe Captivate and keep the projects in sync.
How does Adobe Captivate 4 compare with other screen recording tools (for example, Camtasia)?
Adobe Captivate 4 enables you to generate robust software simulations with multiple learning modes in a single recording session, including demonstrations and interactive simulations for practice and assessment. The recording appears as a series of individual slides, and you can easily edit auto-generated text captions, highlight boxes, audio, mouse paths, and even the captured images.
What international language support exists for Adobe Captivate 4?
Adobe Captivate 4 supports Unicode and is available in Chinese Traditional, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish versions. All versions include a completely localized user interface and documentation. The AutoText Captions feature automatically generates caption text in Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Spanish, and Swedish. Authors can customize the AutoText caption file to support additional languages.
Is Adobe Captivate 4 compatible with Microsoft® Windows Vista®?
Yes, Adobe Captivate 4 runs on Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise (certified for 32-bit editions). It also runs on Microsoft Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 (Service Pack 3 recommended).
Is Adobe Captivate 4 available for Mac OS?
Adobe Captivate 4 is available only on Windows (see the system requirements for more details). Adobe Captivate 4 generates content in the SWF format, which can be viewed on Mac OS through a standard web browser with Flash Player 7 or later. In addition, Mac OS X users with Apple Boot Camp or Parallels Desktop installed on their Intel® systems can install and run Adobe Captivate 4 when their computer is running Windows.
