The Maya Shockwave 3D Exporter has been designed for user productivity from the ground up. Alias|Wavefront has been careful to implement important workflow efficiencies into the process of building interactive 3D content.
With RT Export Express, the Maya Shockwave 3D Exporter enables rapid iteration and scene optimization. On first export it converts the entire scene to Shockwave format. It then calls a Shockwave preview tool from directly within Maya to allow the content to be viewed interactively, exactly as it will appear in Shockwave.
Edits and refinements on the 3D artwork are made directly in Maya. When those changes are re-exported, a unique capability of Maya's underlying Dependency Graph architecture enables conversion and export of only what has changed. Subsequent "Express" exports are virtually instantaneous. The Maya Export Express feature will allow the creation of higher quality content while shaving hours off the production time.
The Maya Shockwave 3D Exporter provides both scene checking and scene optimization via the new Maya RT Scene Checker system. This system informs the artist of scene components that may not be compatible with Shockwave. The scene optimization option will restructure the Maya scene in a manner that will provide enhanced real-time performance within Shockwave.
