What does FreeHand MX do?

FreeHand® MX software is a vector-based drawing application. With FreeHand MX, you can create vector graphics that can be scaled and printed at any resolution. You can use FreeHand MX to create print and web graphic illustrations, such as logos and advertising banners. You can also use FreeHand MX to turn your artwork into Adobe® Flash® animations.

What are Adobe's plans for the future development of FreeHand MX?

Adobe does not plan to develop and deliver any new-feature based releases of FreeHand. Adobe will, however, continue to sell FreeHand MX and offer technical and customer support according to our support policies. While we recognize that FreeHand has a dedicated user base, we encourage you to migrate to Adobe Illustrator® CS3 software. As a loyal FreeHand customer, you're entitled to special pricing for Illustrator CS3, along with free access to special resources to help you make the move.

Will Adobe provide ongoing maintenance releases for FreeHand MX?

At this time, Adobe has no plans to provide maintenance releases, patches, or updates for FreeHand MX.

Does Adobe plan to deliver a FreeHand MX release to support Intel based Macs?

Adobe has no plans to deliver a version of FreeHand that natively supports Intel® based Macs. While FreeHand MX can be installed and run on Intel based Macs, it must run under Rosetta, which Apple has built into Max OS X to dynamically translate PowerPC® based applications to work with Intel based Macs. Does Adobe plan to provide an update to FreeHand MX that will support Microsoft Windows Vista?

Adobe has no plans to deliver a FreeHand MX release that supports Microsoft® Windows® Vista™.

What is the price of FreeHand MX?: FreeHand MX is available for US$399 full license (NA commercial) and US$99 upgrade (NA commercial).
Does Adobe offer education pricing for FreeHand MX?: Yes. The education version of FreeHand MX is available at a discounted price to qualified education users. Visit the Adobe Education Store to learn more about special prices for students and teachers.
Is FreeHand MX available in different languages?: FreeHand MX is available for purchase in English, German, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), French, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, and Swedish.
I already own FreeHand. What are my upgrade options?: For information on upgrade options, refer to the FreeHand upgrade page.
What options do I have to upgrade to Illustrator CS3?: Adobe has developed a specially priced upgrade offer for any registered user of FreeHand to migrate to Illustrator CS3 for US$199. This special upgrade can be purchased directly through the Adobe Store or from any Adobe Authorized Reseller. All that's needed is a valid FreeHand serial number from any version of FreeHand.
Is there an upgrade path from FreeHand to the Adobe Creative Suite 3 family?: Adobe does not offer a direct upgrade from FreeHand to any Adobe Creative Suite® 3 editions. However, FreeHand owners who also own certain versions of Macromedia® Studio or Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop®, InDesign®, Flash, Dreamweaver®, or Illustrator are eligible to upgrade to certain editions of Creative Suite 3. Where can I locate the FreeHand End User Licensing Agreement (EULA)?: You can review the FreeHand EULA on our product license agreements page.
Why should I register my product?: When you register, your serial number is recorded into our database. This allows us to verify the number for you if it has been lost. Registered users also receive special software offers and notifications of product upgrades and updates. Additionally, customers who have purchased our products are eligible for Getting Started Support, which offers several types of free support that vary by product. Register your product today.
I misplaced my serial number. Can you look up my serial number in your user database?: Review our ServiceNote for suggestions on locating a lost serial number. If you still can't find it, contact Adobe Customer Service and enter your name, address, and company name (if applicable) in the online form. For customers outside the United States and Canada, visit one of our International Support Centers.
How can I report a bug in the application or an error in the documentation?: Submit bug reports, documentation errors, and feature requests through our Feature Request and Bug Report online form.
How can I get help using FreeHand?: Get information on all FreeHand technical support programs, including free online options, in the FreeHand Support Center.
What is product activation?: Product activation is an anonymous, secure, and hassle-free one-time process that authenticates licensed users during the installation process. Activation is not required for products acquired under a volume license agreement. The activation process verifies that the serial number is legitimate and has not been activated on more systems than allowed by the product EULA. It does not affect the ability of licensed users to use their software as they always have.
