The Macromedia - Allaire merger unites, under one company,
the two market leaders in Web development: Dreamweaver, the
market-leading visual HTML authoring environment, and HomeSite,
the dominant hand-coding development environment.
The Dreamweaver/HomeSite connection began before the two
companies joined forces. A copy of HomeSite ships with Dreamweaver
and both products let developers launch and edit a document
within the other program.* In fact, many developers use these
tools concurrently while working on HTML documents.
HomeSite and Dreamweaver work so well together because of
their complementary strengths. With core Editor features like
Tag Dialogs, Tag Insight, and Tag Completion, the HomeSite
coder paradigm makes HTML coding more productive. While, the
Dreamweaver visual page editing approach makes it easy to
quickly prototype page layouts, create HTML tables and forms,
set font and image formatting, and generate DHTML elements.
No matter which Web development method developers prefer,
the combination of HomeSite and Dreamweaver offers the best
of both worlds.

*Please note: A copy of Dreamweaver does not ship
with HomeSite.
