Illustrator CS6 4.1 5 54 54
You Guys Rock I just updated to CS6 and what a difference in performance! The new interface is different, but I like it and I'll get used to it over time. One of the best improvements I've notice so far is the ability to print 99,999 units from the print dialog box. Previous versions allowed 4 digits until CS5.5 came along and it went away. This is huge for me since I design as well as print sometimes 10,000 pcs or more. GOOD BYE to 999! Thank you Adobe! 16-October-2012
Fantastic! The improvements on Image trace(live trace) do produce a much improved, more oganic trace. I don't spend nearly as much time "fixing" things.. Thanks Adobe. 06-September-2012
Very happy I wrote a children's book and was agonizing over illustrating it. I've always been creative and took art through high school but for the most part did not develop that talent in my later years. I know that sketching and coloring the "old fashioned" way would have taken me a great deal of time and frustration. Subsequently, I started to research various computer programs as an alternative and came across your product. I was a little apprehensive and skeptical when I initially downloaded the free trial but after about a week I found my self quite comfortable with the program. As a matter of fact, I was surprised at how easy it was to pick up (like anything else, you have to "play" with it) and I was also extremely pleased with the results (so much so in fact that I purchased a monthly subscription). In the end it took about two months to finished the illustrations (twenty in total). There is no doubt in my mind that this would have taken me four to six months (if not longer) to complete "the old way" and I would not have been remotely pleased in comparison to the results that I was able to achieve with CS6. I am very pleased and very happy with this product. I do not hesitate to tell people how I created the artwork and I give this software a "thumbs up" at the same time! 28-February-2013
At least it doesn't crash... After wasting months of time on a design collection which kept crashing in CS4 on my 2009 imac due to some kind of kerning error, the speed and ease of CS6 on a new imac (Dec 2012) is a relief. That said, I'm not sure there's much to be said for the new features. The gradient tool is still a nightmare to use, extraordinary time-consuming and fiddling. Trying to select the same stroke and fill from an existing vector image usually doesn't work. If I adjust an pre-set gradient swatch, unless I save every variation of it as a new swatch, the eyedropper picks up the original swatch not the variation on which I am clicking. I find the new stroke gradients to just to just be a pain. Often using the eyedropper results in the stroke picking up the fill gradient instead of the solid line on the object that was clicked. One wonders what the ages of the people redesigning these programs are and if they were even born when the early versions of Illustrator were being developed. Eighteen years ago as a beginning computer user with virtually no experience, I could design beautiful shaded designs on an 8100 power mac with a 500 mgs hard drive in the amount of time it takes me to figure how these unpredictable tools are "supposed" to work. There was a wonderful vector gradient tool that used multiple vector lines to create a shaped smooth gradient. I have no idea how I would create some of the old effects I used to use in Illustrator 5- I can't even seem to get a simple star or circle shaded correctly using the OSX versions of Illustrator. What's worse is that there so much duplication of methods for adjustment, sometimes just moving my mouse over a gradient will sometime flip the order of the colors or change the gradient from individually shaded objects to a group shaded object. And trying to figure out what I did to create that effect and repeat it takes me hours of reading and searching on the internet. I personally don't have much respect for these overly complex versions of the programs. The speed and power of the new computers and the programs is awesome, but the complexity and fiddliness of the tools (particularly on small delicate work) cancels any increase in working speed that should have made these programs a joy to use. 28-February-2013

Customer testimonials

"The new multiple artboards feature in Adobe Illustrator CS4 makes Illustrator even sweeter. Now it's even easier to try out new designs, create specification documents, and build presentations all within the same application. Its built right in, way more flexible, and much faster."

—Bernard Kerr, lead designer, Delicious, Yahoo!

"Gradients in Adobe Illustrator CS4 aren't new, but adding transparency within gradients and providing an easier, more efficient way to interactively work directly with a gradient on an object are definite enhancements that we will use every day."

—James Wamser, senior training specialist, Sells Printing

"I am so excited about the new Blob Brush tool in Illustrator CS4. I love the freedom of drawing by hand, and that's what I get with the new Blob Brush. It's not just another brush; instead, it feels like a whole new way of freeform drawing using vectors."

—Bruno Selles, cofounder and creative director, Vasava

"Illustrator CS3 is a fast, solid release that delivers on all of its promises.... The impressive list of smaller enhancements, the path editing functionality, and the Flash integration are reason enough to upgrade."

—Mordy Golding, CreativePro.com

"There are several reasons that this is a worthwhile upgrade for serious illustrators, including Live Color, integration with Adobe Flash, new document palettes, a Crop Area tool, isolation mode, and more."

—Aaron Lee and Dennis Sellers, Macsimum News

"Now that Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 is hardware-accelerated using the Mercury Playback Engine, our testing shows that the speed of Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 is impressive when compared to Final Cut Pro. Because time is money in wedding videography, we are looking at switching to an all Adobe workflow full time once Adobe Creative Suite 5 Production Premium ships."

—Alex Tomek, owner, Lumitone
