Adobe LiveCycle Data Services ES3

Capabilities

Develop applications based on modeling technology

With the introduction of the new Adobe application modeling technology, developers can write applications at a higher level, reducing development time and simplifying data integration. Adobe® LiveCycle® Data Services ES3 is deployed as a standard J2EE web application, so Java™ developers can leverage their existing business logic by enabling applications to publish and subscribe to JMS topics and queues and to integrate with existing EJB components. Backed by a powerful data management API and connectors, the module simplifies client-server data communication challenges from multiple sources, including collaborative content shared across clients in real time.

Help ensure high-performance messaging services and quality of service

LiveCycle Data Services ES3 is a high-performance J2EE server–based framework that enables a variety of real-time methodologies and protocols to suit your specific application requirements. The module optimizes your RIA client-server communication using Action Message Format (AMF) encoding, which brings considerable performance gains to your application. Developers can also configure multiple channels per connection, work around environmental constraints on the network or client, and safeguard against exhausting browser HTTP connections. To help ensure a high quality of service, real-time communication is further enhanced by providing guaranteed delivery of information to the client and the ability to reduce or increase the amount of data being streamed based on the client's speed of data processing.

Streamline multi-channel application development with native mobile application support

Optimize the user experience with native mobile app support using native mobile support with Client SDKs for HTML5/JavaScript, Apple iOS, and Java/Google Android that enable creation of high performance, native applications that use remoting and messaging without going through Flash. Native client SDK capabilities include robust support for AMF over various communication channels, including support for clustering, failover, reliable messaging, server message throttling, and Channel Sets.

Take advantage of open standards integration and tiered deployment

Integrate your application with your existing business logic and infrastructure using LiveCycle Data Services ES3 open adapter architecture to connect with Spring, JMS, Hibernate, EJB, and other data persistence mechanisms. Simplify deployment with support for portals compliant with JSR 168 and Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP). LiveCycle Data Services ES3 further simplifies application deployment by enabling tiered deployment inside and outside your firewall. The module includes an edge server that can be deployed in the DMZ and can provide more secure communications to a LiveCycle Data Services ES3 instance running behind the firewall to communicate with core enterprise applications.

Manage your data offline in a disconnected mode

LiveCycle Data Services ES3 provides enhanced client side components to facilitate the management, storage, and protection of your application data. These offline components enable Flash applications to support CRUD operations and encrypt data using SQLLite in Adobe AIR. Development of offline applications is streamlined with the Adobe Modeling Language which automatically generates the required code.

Improve developer productivity

Managed remoting lets you leverage the power of Data Management features such as inter-client data sync, paging, entity associations and lazy-loading, with the ease of use of Remoting to create powerful data-centric Flex applications. Re-use your existing Java Beans and persistence using simple JPA-based annotations, or create new applications using simple RPC-style invocations the benefits of Managed Objects.

Enhanced Spring Framework support

Spring support allows integration Data Services with the Spring Framework to create rich internet applications (RIAs). Take advantage of the Spring Framework's inversion of control (IoC) container with both servlet and NIO-based endpoints, including use with the Data Services Edge Server for DMZ-based deployments.
