Adobe PDF Print Engine 2

Personalized publishing: The promise of VDP delivered by PDF

Adobe® PDF Print Engine 2 builds on the power of version 1 with additional optimizations for digital presses and personalized publishing. It brings all the benefits of the PDF workflow to Variable Data Publishing (VDP), in which speed and simplicity are critical. The proven reliability of PDF is based on the fact that it maintains content at the highest level of abstraction, passing through every stage from designer to final printing with minimal conversion. The portability of PDF enables marketers and business users to participate in upstream workflows, something that is not easily done with the specialized VDP formats used in the past. Full-fidelity desktop previewing becomes a reality when the same engine used for final output is used to view the job at every stage in the workflow. A single workflow can be used for both variable and nonvariable job types, unifying print production through the PDF standard.

Industry analysts project a growing demand for TransPromo print capabilities, which blend the individualized content of transactional statements with the graphic sophistication of promotional marketing. Adobe PDF Print Engine 2 enables marketers, designers, and digital printers to harness the user-friendly, ubiquitous, and portable PDF format and workflow for personalized publishing. This new freedom positions digital printers as long-term, strategic media partners delivering a higher per-unit value to their clients based on the higher response rates of personalized publishing. Drawing from the vast PDF ecosystem of partners and providers, digital printers can easily build on their current expertise to deliver new personalized publishing services.
