Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 4 5 653 653
Something New Every Time I'm a Lightroom neophyte so this review is based on the impression this program is making on me. Coming from a Photoshop/Bridge background I had a difficult time envisioning where Lightroom would fit into my photo flow. I had my routine. Still a recent upgrade offer made the opportunity to move to Lightroom irresistible. That, and the fact that I need a better image management system. I do sports photography and that means I take a LOT of pictures at any given outing. Now I'm finding people going "remember that picture you took three years ago?". Yeah, maybe not. I needed something to make photo management easier. Lightroom is filling that bill with flying colours. My first couple of uses of Lightroom saw me emulating the workflow I was familiar with while using Bridge. That is to say, Lightroom was little more than a keyword sorter for my images. Still even with this lowly assignment I was impressed with the photo management features that Lightroom offered. That was then. Now, with two months of experience with Lightroom I'm finding it even more versatile. Every time I open and explore in Lightroom I'm finding a cool "new" feature that is making my photo handling easier. I could list all the things I like about Lightroom but I am, after all, still learning how to incorporate this program into my workflow. I'm sure my list of "likes" will be quite a bit different in another six months. Lightroom is a large program with a lot of features. You won't learn it in a day or a week. But you will learn . . . to love it. 25-July-2012
Post processing is much easier I use Lightroom 4 as my primary post processing software. 98% of all of my post processing is done within Lightroom. I find the ability to upload images directly to Flickr, SmugMug, or any of the other image sharing sites as well as my own website to be the ultimate in total image processing and sharing. I have very little interest in any other post processing software. If I have a need to enhance my processing I can add plug-ins to tweak or add more adjustment or I can send the image directly to Photoshop without having to save and reopen, etc. Also knowing that all of my adjustments are non-destructive gives me the liberty to play around with the image. If I don't like what I have done, I just hit the reset button and instantly the image is back to it's original condition. A photographer's best post processing friend. 13-June-2012
Adobe Lightroom 4 shortcomings Unfortunately, I found Lightroom 4 to be missing some essential features, some of which, I hear, will be in Lightroom 5. The erase feature is too limiting, the "print" area is confusing. The "import" feature brings in an entire file of photos, when you only want to bring in one or two, it is more difficult. The instructions are very lacking in some detail, you need a manual. Hopefully, Lightroom 5 will solve some of these problems. I will wait for that product, having cancelled this one. 13-June-2013
really good, except.. I like this program. However, it crashes a lot. You have to wait for it and Windows 7 to get along. It's not the most intuitive program I have ever used, either. It's not as easy to use as Nikon X and X2. This is my one big complaint. Ease of use. I don't think a person should have to spend as much time learning to use this program as they have spent learning how to take the pictures that will be edited in this program. 12-June-2013

"I’ve had a chance to spend some time with Adobe Lightroom 4 and I’m impressed with the new functionality.  Right away I could see how Adobe had really improved and redefined the way the Develop Module tools work.  The new adjustments are subtle, yet powerful, and there’s a lot room for getting your images to look just the way you want them."
