New Adobe® Prelude™ CS6 is ingesting and logging software designed to tightly integrate with Adobe Premiere® Pro CS6 software for a near-seamless production to post-production workflow. All markers and other metadata you add in Prelude are retained and fully searchable throughout post-production work in Adobe Premiere Pro.
Metadata added to footage in Prelude makes it easier to find the footage whenever you need it. Finding footage you need later in the post-production process is fast, because you can use near-instant metadata searches rather than depending on slow and tedious manual scrubbing. And because the metadata entered in Prelude exists for the lifetime of the footage, you can easily search for footage at any time in the future, thereby increasing the lifetime value of any footage that is tagged and saved.
Additionally, Prelude allows for smoother collaboration. Add production notes as metadata in Prelude and know that your team will always have access to your detailed vision throughout the post-production process because this information will persist when the footage is opened in Adobe Premiere Pro.
How Prelude integrates with your Adobe Premiere Pro workflow
Any rough cut you create in Prelude can be sent to Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 by simply choosing File > Send to Adobe Premiere Pro. If you already have Adobe Premiere Pro open, the rough cut will appear almost instantly in your Project panel, so you can start editing right away.
To help make the workflow more intuitive when sending footage to Adobe Premiere Pro, Prelude allows you to rename clips using descriptive titles that can help make it easier later on to locate exactly the content needed. These new names are maintained as aliases that persist in Adobe Premiere Pro — the original filename is not changed, helping to prevent disruption of any other projects that may use those same files.
The Send to Adobe Premiere Pro feature in Prelude is great for when you have both Prelude and Adobe Premiere Pro running on the same system. For times when you need to send footage to others in different locations, or on other systems, simply use the Export command to create a sharable Adobe Premiere Pro project file. Prelude has built-in FTP support, making it easier to transfer your exported projects and media to a media asset management (MAM) system or other server location.
