Work with virtually any video format thanks to native editing support for DV, HDV, Sony XDCAM, XDCAM EX, XDCAM HD, Panasonic P2, and AVCHD. Add uncompressed SD and HD acquisition with a choice of hardware cards from third-party vendors such as AJA, Blackmagic Design, and Matrox.
Import and edit all the popular QuickTime formats natively (including Apple ProRes and .mov files captured by Canon 5D and 7D cameras, and QuickTime and .mov files from the JVC ProHD camera range), with full access to clip metadata — no transcoding, rewrapping, or logging and transferring required.
Work with DPX frame sequences as footage in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5. Full control over parameters like black point, bit depth, and log / linear space allow non-destructive changes to be made at any stage of production. Import and export files that include timecode data embedded within a DPX frame sequence, allowing for even more control when working with the DPX format.
Adobe and RED Digital Cinema Camera Company are collaborating to bring a truly native, color-rich, 4K tapeless workflow to desktop tools, enabling filmmakers to harness the full potential of high-resolution raw digital cinematography. Native support for RED R3D files beyond 4K in Adobe® Premiere® Pro CS5.5, After Effects® CS5.5, and Encore® CS5, allows R3D files to be dropped straight onto the timeline without transcoding or rewrapping.
Enjoy support for native editing of content from Panasonic P2 cameras in DVCPRO, DVCPRO HD, and across multiple P2 cards. View camera metadata and organize files in the media browser before importing and editing the content without transcoding or rewrapping. Edit directly from the P2 card via the camera or a card reader, or use the media browser to transfer content to hard disk for better performance. Export content in Panasonic P2 format, either to P2 media for use in a P2 workflow or to hard disk for archiving.
Import and edit content from Sony XDCAM and XDCAM 50 cameras directly, without rewrapping or transcoding. Browse clips using the media browser and organize them using camera metadata. Edit directly from the SxS card via the camera or a card reader (XDCAM EX only), or use the media browser to transfer the content to hard disk for better performance.
Take advantage of the efficiency of tapeless cameras. Edit files from the latest tapeless formats natively, including P2, XDCAM, XDCAM EX and XDCAM HD, and AVCHD, without transcoding or rewrapping. With an integrated file browser, you can browse your drives and removable media from inside Adobe Premiere Pro to find and log footage, and then import the content directly into your Adobe Premiere Pro project. Native editing means you'll enjoy a faster workflow from capture to edit, while retaining the quality of your source material.
Adobe is committed to working with RED to release improved support for RED in CS5.5, and a plug-in is available for Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and After Effects CS5.5 which adds support for RED Mysterium X™ and the latest Color Science and Firmware for RED ONE™ cameras. This includes new user interface support for FLUT, shadows and new color spaces.
With a true file-based workflow for Panasonic's AVC-Intra files, Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 enables users to import, play back, edit and export AVC-Intra clips natively with no transcoding or rewrapping. Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 supports AVC-Intra content at 50Mbps and 100Mbps bitrates at all common frame rates and resolutions. AVC-Intra file format support is also in the Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 Media Browser panel, allowing users to view clips directly without having to navigate through multiple folders.
Edit content natively from Sony HDV cameras that record directly to removable media. Use the media browser to find clips and organize them using metadata, and then import content directly without transcoding or rewrapping.
