AdobePS 8.6 for Macintosh
In addition to all the features found in earlier versions of Adobe PostScript drivers for Macintosh, such as an easy-to-use interface and the ability to print in the foreground or background, AdobePS 8.6 features new printing options, including Soft Collate, Soft Reverse Order, Poster, Manual Duplex, and Booklet. Using Apple's PrintingLib and Desktop Printer Utility, AdobePS 8.6 also prints over IP networks using lpr (line-printer protocol).
AdobePS 8.6 includes Adobe's standard Custom Page, Virtual Printer, and Watermark plug-ins. They don't need to be installed separately.
In addition, AdobePS now uses the same PrintingLib as the Apple LaserWriter driver, eliminating compatibility problems between the AdobePS and LaserWriter drivers.
AdobePS 8.5.1 for Macintosh
AdobePS 8.5.1 contains all the key features found in earlier versions of Adobe PostScript drivers for Macintosh - such as n-up printing, ColorSync support, EPS and PostScript file generation, and automatic setup and configuration. New features include a redesigned user interface and a big performance boost when using the latest PostScript 3™ products. Adobe PostScript Level 1 and Level 2 users also benefit from increased speed and reliability.
Graphics professionals and creators of long documents will appreciate the option to print documents in foreground mode, eliminating the need for large spool files and greatly minimizing the time required to print long, complex documents or image-intensive pages.
Users of AdobePS 8.5.1 can easily add functionality by installing one or more of its associated plug-ins, such as support for custom (user-defined) media sizes, watermark printing, and PDF file generation. Note that the PDF file generation plug-in requires Acrobat® Distiller®.
