The Macromedia Flex Government Digital Dashboard, developed by Aviamedia for Macromedia, has been created to demonstrate how numerous data silos and legacy systems currently in use by government agencies can be integrated to give leaders and personnel immediate and actionable access to the health of their organization.
Launch the Flex Digital Dashboard applicationWorking with members of the 129th Rescue Wing of the California Air National Guard, Aviamedia used Macromedia Flex and Flex Builder to create a dashboard that would address the following business requirements of a prototypical defense agency:

- Reduced manning required to develop and maintain information management tools
- Reduced time for information gathering

What Makes Flex More Interactive? …Client-Side Data Model
When you launch the application, you’ll note that the application loads itself in your browser window. This “client-side” loading is a powerful feature of Flex applications and enables real-time interactivity with data. At the login page, please click on the arrow button to take you to the main page. On this main page are listed the top areas of concern for a typical USAF Wing Commander.
Feel free to explore the application, clicking on such items as:
- Performance Appraisals: To see which staff are behind in their performance reports
- Fleet Availability: To see the information which would reside in a typical Wing maintenance team
- Task Analyzer: To see what it would be like to simulate running a typical Air Tasking Order against a Wing’s resources to determine acceptance of order
Today's Decision Process (Slow)
These types of analyses can cost the typical Wing hours of data gathering work, only to paste the information into typical office tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint before a Wing Commander can evaluate it.

Tomorrow's Decision Process (Net-centric)
Using a Flex Digital Dashboard, a Wing Commander can have immediate visibility into all of the relevant details, and can interact and analyze the data in real-time. By interacting with synthesized data in a real-time manner, the user of a Flex digital dashboard is able to increase comprehension and decision-superiority.
