InDesign Font Catalog

Only the regular font is displayed entirely, and each style (bold, italic, outline, condensed, and so on) is displayed in its style in a short list below the main font display. From 3 to 15 fonts can be listed per page using the single paragraph format. A waterfall display of only 1 font per page with text samples from 8 to 72 points can also be created. Options include skipping system and non-Roman fonts, adding a title bar to the page, font sample point sizes, custom paragraph text or standard ABCabc123/Quick brown/cozy lummox, and letter or A4 page size.
InDesign Image Catalog
InDesign Image Catalog creates an InDesign file of images/graphics from a folder. The options include number of images per page, including filename or file path; scaling images up/down; use of InDesign document presets (so you can quickly jump between several layout types); and inclusion of subfolders when placing all images, including a page heading/title. It can place most graphic formats that InDesign places: TIFF, EPS, AI, PSD, JPG, GIF, PDF (without password protection, single page or first page only), BMP, PICT.
PDF Bee simplifies single-page PDF output from InDesign. PDF Bee runs in automatic mode or single document mode. In automatic mode, PDF Bee watches a hot folder for InDesign files dropped into it, opens the file, exports a PDF file or prints a PostScript file, and then distills the PS file and copies the PDF files back to the completed files folder.
Options include exporting PDF from InDesign, printing PS file only, printing a PS file and distilling, your choice of saved PDF export presets, saved print presets, saved distiller job options files (local to the computer or not), automatically loading a fonts folder related to the InDesign file, user-defined alternate output location of the PDF files (for use with a Pitstop server or other preflight/postflight software), and reverse file naming.

Cool Kerning enables automatic updates of kerning values. Build kerning tables to control kerning between special character pairs. The tables are collected into packages that have a version number. The packages can be automatically distributed inside the InDesign documents so that updates are also automatically parsed in an organization, allowing greater quality assurance than other layout programs. With the Cool Kerning plug-in, use fewer designers and still take less time to get to the correct graphical results. It's all handled automatically!
Building pages that use headlines often requires manual amendment of the tracking values. Cool Tracking allows users to make tracking tables and automate the process. The use of a graph to specify the values is not new, but Cool Tracking makes it easy to store multiple tables inside packages that can be distributed throughout your organization. This technology lowers production costs dramatically and provides quality assurance on a level that no other layout program can match. It's all handled automatically!
Create call-out text boxes that point to color usage. The call-out boxes also point to color usage inside images. The plug-in is often used to document color usage for printers, but it also allows you to check if they mistakenly used spot colors instead of CMYK. The text in the call-out boxes can have individual colors depending on the color type (CMYK, spot, and so on.).
Many users converting from PageMaker miss the ability to place HPGL images in InDesign. This plug-in lets you place HPGL files, which are automatically converted to Adobe Illustrator® files. If you make a package for a printer, the Illustrator document will be included. This allows three parties to output the document even without HPGL Import. Every time the plug-in detects a modification of the HPGL file, it will automatically regenerate the Illustrator file, so this "spinoff" version of the HPGL file is always up to date.
When you are proofing pages with images, it is often helpful to know the names of placed images, especially if the names include version numbers or other information. Label It allows you to automatically create text boxes on top of all images. With this dynamic solution, you can move, delete, or replace images, and the labels are automatically updated. You control the position of the labels (center, upper corner, and so on), and you can even set up an offset to the image box. If you place images at the edge of a page (for overprint purposes), you can set up a margin. This will guarantee that all image names are readable on the printout.
Scale Alert — a free plug-in
If you are interested in high-quality image output from InDesign, you might want to limit how much you scale images — both up and down. Using Scale Alert, you will see a warning every time you print the document with images scaled outside your requests. You can define scaling based on resulting DPI or percentage. This plug-in is free after registration.
Put extra information in the slug area. You can collect font usage, image usage, and even a complete log of every user that has modified the document, and this plug-in will update the information automatically. You can also add version and print counters to the document, making it easy to find the latest print if you have to choose between multiple prints that have been "shuffled." Stamp It also allows you to save JPEG images of all pages in the document, instead of only the first page.
TuneIT — a free plug-in
This plug-in allows you to control iTunes directly in InDesign. You can define keyboard shortcuts for play/pause, next and previous track, and other features. You get an InDesign palette where you can select playlists and tracks. This plug-in is free after registration.
OPI Manager provides InDesign users the complete OPI workflow using HELIOS ImagesServer. Transparency, drop shadows, and other effects used with OPI layout images are processed correctly.
