Adobe JRun 4 is an application server used for developing and deploying Java applications. JRun 4 provides the speed and reliability required to deploy and manage your standards-based Internet applications. Loaded with features for accelerated deployment and powerful scalability, JRun 4 is an elegantly architected, web-services enabled approachable platform with full Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) compatibility.

What is the JRun Management Console (JMC)?
The JMC is a complete suite of server administration, monitoring, and reporting tools. With the JMC, server managers can visually monitor, configure, tune, and maintain JRun servers, applications, and clusters.
How can I send in feedback or a feature request for a future version of JRun?
We're always on the lookout for great feature requests. In fact, we try to incorporate many feature requests into each release. Send your ideas to Macromedia software feature requests, where JRun development team members will evaluate them.

When can I purchase JRun 4?
English, French and Japanese versions of JRun 4 are available now for download and purchase.
My current application environment requires JRun Server 3.1, can I still purchase it?

For a limited time, JRun Server 3.1 Professional, Advanced, and Enterprise editions will be available for purchase from the Macromedia Online Store or our Order Center. How do I register my JRun 4 product?

I just purchased JRun 3.1. Do I have to pay full price for the new version?
If you purchased JRun Server 3.1 either as a stand-alone product or as part of a bundle on or after April 13, 2002, you may qualify for a free upgrade. Please read our ServiceNote for information on obtaining your free upgrade.

What happened to Adobe JRun Studio?
Adobe JRun Studio is no longer available as a separate product. Macromedia Dreamweaver MX now combines the most popular code-editing features of JRun Studio together with the visual design tools of Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver MX also includes Macromedia HomeSite+, which has the combined functionality of JRun Studio and Macromedia HomeSite 5.

When can I purchase Adobe JRun 4?
English versions of Adobe JRun 4 are available for download and purchase now. Localized versions of JRun 4 in French and Japanese will be available in June 2002.
Why should I upgrade to JRun 4?

Who should use JRun 4?

What prior versions and editions of JRun are eligible to be upgraded to JRun 4? What are the requirements for the JRun 4 upgrade installation process?

Run Server Version 3.x Professional, Advanced and Enterprise Editions can be upgraded to JRun 4 provided that the number of CPUs in the upgrade license match the currently installed number of JRun 3.x CPUs. During the installation process of the JRun 4 upgrade license, the installer will search on the server for a valid JRun 3.x serial number. If the installer cannot find a valid JRun 3.x serial number that matches the number of CPUs you are trying to upgrade to then you will be asked to enter a valid serial number.

Important note: The JRun 4 upgrade requires an existing JRun 3.x serial number that is licensed for the same number of CPUs.

I have a subscription to JRun. How will I receive my upgrade to JRun 4?
Holders of current JRun subscriptions will be notified, with instructions, when their upgrades are available. Notification will be sent to the address on record with Macromedia. To check your address or to change it, use our online customer service form.
Can I upgrade from JRun 3.x for one platform to JRun 4 for another platform?
This upgrade is available for JRun 3.x customers. The JRun 4 CD includes installation kits for all supported platforms.
When will the localized versions of JRun 4 be available?
French and Japanese versions of JRun 4 are scheduled for release in June of 2002. For more information about purchasing or upgrading localized versions of JRun 4, contact your local Macromedia distributor directly. A list of distributors is available at our International Resources page.
Will my existing JRun 3.x applications work with JRun 4?
We believe that most JRun 3.x applications will run under JRun 4 without modification. We are documenting any incompatibilities that we become aware of, and will provide migration information and tools as needed.
How can I evaluate or learn more about JRun 4?
The English version of JRun 4 is now available for download. Trial versions of the shipping product, in all languages, will be available shortly. For additional information on JRun 4, please visit the JRun product center.
What happened to Adobe JRun Studio?
Adobe JRun Studio is no longer available as a separate product. Dreamweaver MX now combines the most popular code-editing features of JRun Studio with the visual design tools of Macromedia Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver MX also includes Macromedia HomeSite+, which has the combined functionality of JRun Studio and Macromedia HomeSite. JRun 4 will also integrate with leading Java IDEs to enable you to develop your applications using your favorite development environment.
Where can I find my product serial number?
If the software program is installed, you can find the serial number in the JRun Management Console (JMC). If you have a boxed product, you can also find your serial number on the registration card that came in the package.
I can't find my serial number. Can Macromedia help?
If you've registered your product, Macromedia can look up the serial number for you. Visit our online help form or call Customer Service at (800) 470-7211 or (415) 553-7186. Your product was automatically registered if you purchased it through the Macromedia Online Store, by phone from the Macromedia Order Center, or from the Buy Now option on your free trial version. If you haven't registered your product, Macromedia can provide you with a new serial number if you send us proof of purchase (copy of a commercial invoice or receipt).
