What is the Adobe Student and Teacher Edition?

Adobe Student and Teacher Editions are the same full versions of some of our commercial software titles, priced at discounts for students, faculty, teachers, and administrators.

Which software products are available as Student and Teacher Editions?

Student and Teacher Editions offering differ by country within Asia Pacific region. Please refer to this page for availability. Products available include Adobe?? Creative Suite 6 Design Standard, Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium and Acrobat?? X Pro.

Are the products received the current versions of the software?

Yes, all products are the most up-to-date versions.

Are the Student and Teacher Edition products the same as the commercial products?

Yes. Adobe Student and Teacher Editions are the same full-version software products.

How are Adobe Student and Teacher Editions different from the Adobe Student Editions I've heard about?

Adobe Student Editions were available only for students. Now, Adobe Student and Teacher Editions are available for students, teachers, faculty, and administrators. Student and Teacher Editions have replaced Adobe Student Editions beginning in April 2010.

What is included in the Student and Teacher Edition box?

Inside the box, there is a product CD or DVD and instructions about how to request the required serial number from Adobe. There is no printed manual included in the box.

In what languages are the products available?

The products are available in English.

Are manuals included with the products?

The product packages contain no printed manuals. Documentation is provided in electronic form on the CD or DVD.

On which platforms are Adobe Student and Teacher Editions available?

Versions are available for Windows® and Mac OS.

Who can buy?

Who may purchase and use Adobe Student and Teacher Editions?

The following individuals are eligible to purchase Adobe Student and Teacher Editions:

  • University and college students ??? students enrolled at a higher education institution defined as an accredited public or private university or college (including community, junior, or vocational college) that grants degrees requiring not less than the equivalent of two years of full-time study
  • Primary and secondary school students ??? students enrolled at an accredited public or private primary or secondary school providing full-time instruction
  • Faculty and staff ??? teachers and staff employed by an accredited primary or secondary school, public or private university or college, school district, or board of education (including emeritus status professors)1

Are part-time students and teachers eligible to purchase Adobe Student and Teacher Editions?

Yes, as long as the student or teacher qualifies per the terms stated above.

What kind of evidence of eligibility is needed?

The following is needed from students and teachers to provide evidence of eligibility:

Students:

Proof of current enrollment, stating your name, the institution name, and the current date or term.1

Types of proof of enrollment include:

  • School ID card
  • Report card
  • Transcript
  • Tuition bill or statement
  • Any other document issued by the educational institution that includes your name, the institution name, and the current date or term

Students who are under 18 and do not have a valid photo ID may provide an official letter from their eligible

Teachers, faculty, and staff:

Current ID that includes your name, the date, and the name of the educational entity or an official document such as the following1:

  • Institutional paycheck stub
  • Letter on official letterhead from the registrar of the educational entity indicating current employment

Note: Any sensitive information such as pay amounts, grades, or social security numbers can be covered or crossed out.

When do I have to provide proof of eligibility?

Proof of eligibility must be submitted to Adobe after purchase in order to receive a serial number and use your Adobe Student and Teacher Edition software. Explicit instructions on submitting your proof of eligibility will be included inside your Student and Teacher Edition box.

How must evidence of eligibility be provided?

You will have to provide an electronic copy of your proof of eligibility via web upload using the web address provided in your Student and Teacher Edition package.

What digital formats may be used for submitting my proof of eligibility?

You may use a digital camera or scanner to create a copy of your proof of eligibility. Make sure that all documents are legible and true to size. Acceptable formats include JPEG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, and PDF. The file must be no larger than 3MB.

How long will Adobe to validate my proof of eligibility?

It may take up to three business days to receive confirmation of your proof of eligibility and your serial number from Adobe.

Can I use my Adobe Student and Teacher Edition software while I await acceptance of my proof of eligibility?

Yes, you may install your product as a trial while awaiting receipt of your serial number from Adobe. You may use the product for up to 30 days in trial mode.

Where do I buy Adobe Student and Teacher Editions and what do they cost?

How can I use my software ??? during and after school?

Do Adobe Student and Teacher Editions have restricted functionality?

Student and Teacher Editions have all the features and functionality of the commercial versions. The software may be used only on a privately owned computer, and the user may not transfer or resell ownership of the Adobe Student and Teacher Edition license.

Is there a time limit on using an Adobe Student and Teacher Edition?

Eligible users who purchase an Adobe Student and Teacher Edition receive a perpetual license that does not have a time restriction.

Can I use my Adobe Student and Teacher Edition software for commercial use?

Yes. You may purchase a Student and Teacher Edition for personal as well as commercial use.

How many copies of an Adobe Student and Teacher Edition can I purchase?

Each eligible person may purchase only one copy of Adobe Student and Teacher Edition per platform per year. Purchases of suite editions (such as Design Premium or Master Collection) are limited to one title per platform per year. ?? For example, you may purchase only one copy of Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium Student and Teacher Edition for Windows. If you buy an additional copy for Windows, no serial number will be issued for it. You may, however, buy one copy for Mac.

Can I use Adobe Student and Teacher Edition software on more than one computer?

Adobe Student and Teacher Edition software may be used on two computers only. This is ensured through a product activation procedure, which is performed online.

Can I upgrade my Adobe Student and Teacher Edition software?

Adobe Student and Teacher Edition software can be upgraded to a commercial version when the user is no longer a student or teacher.

Can I resell or give away my Adobe Student and Teacher Edition software?

No. Adobe Student and Teacher Edition software may not be resold or given to others for free.

Can a student or teacher continue to use Student and Teacher Edition software after graduation or upon completion of training?

Yes. After graduation or upon completion of training, an individual may continue to use Student and Teacher Edition software.

Can I use my Student and Teacher Edition software on a computer at my school or university?

No. Student and Teacher Edition software may be used on your own private computer only.

How do I activate my software once I buy?

Do I need a code to activate the product for use?

Yes, you need a serial number before you can install the software. You must request this from Adobe by providing proof of your eligibility according to the instructions included in your Adobe Student and Teacher Edition package.

If I need to use my Student and Teacher Edition immediately, can I do so initially without a serial number?

Yes. You may install your Student and Teacher Edition software in trial mode while awaiting a serial number from Adobe. You may use the software for 30 days in trial mode. After 30 days, the Student and Teacher Edition will require a serial number for continued use.

Can I exchange or return the product?

Student and Teacher Editions purchased through the online Adobe Education Stores may be returned within 30 days of purchase. For purchases through other resellers, check with them to determine their return policy.
