5. Package your InDesign document for GoLive.
With the big decisions behind you, packaging your
InDesign document for GoLive is a simple process. During packaging, InDesign converts text to XML stories and saves them in the package folder. Images are saved in the formats you specified.

When you open an InDesign package in GoLive, a preview of the InDesign document appears in the package window. You can navigate pages in the preview window, or click the Assets tab to view a list of assets (stories and images) the package contains.

6. Drag content to web pages in GoLive.
Moving content from the InDesign package preview to your GoLive web pages is easy: Just click and drag. Any text blocks you drag onto a web page become components in GoLive, so they are automatically updated if the text in your InDesign package changes. Images are converted to Smart Objects in GoLive. With Smart Objects, you can move, resize, or reoptimize an image on a web page without modifying the original image. GoLive keeps track of the original image, so any changes you make are automatically reflected in your website.

InDesign offers greater control over typography than CSS can support. To preserve text formatting not supported by CSS, such as text on a path, press Shift as you drag to convert the text to a Smart Object (graphic).

7. Complete your site in GoLive.
When you’re done adding elements from your InDesign package to your website, you can further refine the site in GoLive to make it work well. For the Aesthetics website, we created an animated graphic for the portal page that pulls from the visual theme of the brochure and sets the mood for the rest of the site. We also added a link to a PDF version of the workshop schedule, which attendees can print for future reference.
