To help you make the most of your new CS2 application, a wealth of sample files and useful resources is included with your software. Some of these resources are installed during the setup process, while others can be found on the Resources and Extras CD. (Note: Adobe® Creative Suite 2 Premium software contains two Resources and Extras CDs.) This overview guides you through the various types of bonus content and shows you how to access it.

On your hard drive

During software installation, a number of resources are placed in your Applications folder. To view those files, navigate to the specific application folder on your computer:

  • Windows: C drive > Program files > Adobe > Adobe [application]
  • Macintosh: Macintosh HD > Applications > Adobe [application]

This path leads you to a folder for each component of Adobe Creative Suite 2:

On the Resources and Extras CDs

Insert the Resources and Extras CD; if you own Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium, you may insert either Disc 1 or Disc 2. The CD includes the following folders:

Adobe Partner Connection — This folder contains information on Adobe’s partner programs for:

  • Print service providers
  • Developers
  • Trainers

Documentation — In addition to fully optimized, print-ready PDF versions of the Help documentation for each component, this folder contains:

  • Specimen sheets for available fonts, including glyph complements, as well as an OpenType® user guide (in the Fonts folder)
  • A comprehensive Color Management Workflow guide
  • A PDF Integration Guide
  • Supplemental technical information for Version Cue® CS2

Goodies — The Goodies folder contains subfolders, organized by product:

  • Use a drawing tablet? You’ll be glad to see extra brushes from Wacom.

InDesign CS2

Adobe Creative Suite 2

  • The Bridge JavaScript Reference is a full-length technical guide detailing how to manipulate and extend Adobe Bridge via JavaScipt.
  • The Designer’s Guide to Transparency explains the transparency-related features in Illustrator CS2 and InDesign CS2 and how to create art and layouts that print correctly.
  • Getting Started with Transparency covers transparency basics, including effects, flattening, exporting, and printing.
  • The PDF/X guide explains everything you need to know about creating PDF/X standard–compliant files for print production.
  • Understanding Version Cue is an excellent resource for easily establishing a file-management workflow.

Customer Support

  • A handy reference booklet outlines various support options, such as online, phone, and premium support programs.

Illustrator CS2

  • For developers, the Illustrator CS2 Software Development Kit (SDK) consists of documentation, interface headers, and sample code.
  • Additional scripting guides include Getting Started with JavaScript, an Illustrator JavaScript Reference guide, and a Visual Basic Scripting Reference guide.
  • The Sample Scripts folder contains over 50 JavaScript or VB-based scripts for useful automation routines such as creating calendars, working with variables, using export options, and more.

InDesign CS2

  • The InCopy CS2 Plug-ins folder contains all of the plug-ins you need to support a collaborative workflow with Adobe InCopy® CS2 software.
  • The InDesign CS2 PDF Automation for Acrobat 7 folder contains plug-ins that enable you to create PDF files in Acrobat 7.0 Professional software using the Create PDF from File feature, the Create PDF from Multiple Files feature, or the JDF Job Definitions dialog box.
  • In addition to a full-length InDesign CS2 Scripting Guide and a detailed Reference Guide supplement, useful sample scripts are available for automating routines like adding guides, placing multipage PDF files, working with tabs, and much more.
  • The InDesign CS2 Printing Guide is a detailed technical reference for print service providers or anyone interested in preparing documents for output.
  • The tagged Text reference booklet explains how to take advantage of InDesign software's automated formatting abilities with tagged text import and export.

Photoshop CS2

  • The Scripting Guide folder contains additional reference materials on working with AppleScript, JavaScript, and Visual Basic, along with a comprehensive guide to creating and using scripts in Photoshop CS2.

GoLive CS2

  • For developers, the GoLive SDK includes a Getting Started Guide for creating extensions, an in-depth Programmer’s Guide, and a comprehensive Programmer’s Reference book.
  • An Introduction to Creating Mobile Content and Applications with GoLive offers an overview of the mobile industry landscape and explains the benefits of using GoLive with practical examples and sample scenarios.
