Demonstrating a Procedure

The simulation, Negotiating a bike lane, contains three separate sections: the Show Me module, the Let Me Try It module, and the Test Me module. The Show Me module uses animation and text to demonstrate a procedure: the correct way to make a right turn from a road with a bike lane.

This article describes how the Show Me module was created. It helps you understand:

Timelines, keyframes, and animation
Timelines and behaviors
Buttons and behaviors

To view the simulation you need Netscape Navigator 4 or Internet Explorer 4 (or a later version of either) to run the simulation.

To see how the simulation is constructed, download the simulation files (51K).

What's in the demonstration
How a timeline works
How keyframes work
How the timeline triggers behaviors
How behaviors display the text and button and stop the car
How a button triggers behaviors
How a behavior swaps images in a layer
