The silent installer can install the ColdFusion MX 6.1 server configuration or the J2EE configuration. You can also use the silent installer to update ColdFusion MX to ColdFusion MX 6.1 (free update) and to upgrade from ColdFusion 4.5 or 5 to ColdFusion MX 6.1 (requires an upgrade serial number).

Note: With all install types, you must open the ColdFusion MX Administrator and run the Configuration and Settings Migration Wizard to complete the installation process.

When performing a new install of ColdFusion MX 6.1 in the server configuration, the silent installer does not automatically configure your web server for use with ColdFusion MX. You must perform this step manually after running the silent installer. For more information, see Running the Web Server Configuration Tool from the command line.

To silently install ColdFusion MX:

  1. Configure the properties file.
  2. Run the silent installer.
