This section shows sample installer.properties files for the following scenarios:

Full installation, server configuration

For a new UNIX installation using the server configuration, a sample installer properties file might contain the following text:

INSTALLER_UI=silentSAVE_DEBUG_OUTPUT=trueSILENT_WEBROOT_FOLDER=/usr/local/apache2.0.43/htdocsSILENT_INSTALL_FOLDER=/opt/coldfusionmxSILENT_WEB_SERVER_SELECTION=customSILENT_RUNTIME_USER=nobodySILENT_ADMIN_PASSWORD=adminSILENT_CONFIGURE_SYSTEM_INIT=falseSILENT_INSTALLER_TYPE=serverSILENT_UPDATER=falseSILENT_SERIAL_NUMBER=serial-number

For a new Windows installation using the server configuration, a sample installer properties file might contain the following text:

INSTALLER_UI=silentSAVE_DEBUG_OUTPUT=trueSILENT_WEBROOT_FOLDER=c:\\Inetpub\\wwwrootSILENT_INSTALL_FOLDER=c:\\cfusionmxSILENT_WEB_SERVER_SELECTION=customSILENT_ADMIN_PASSWORD=adminSILENT_CONFIGURE_SYSTEM_INIT=falseSILENT_INSTALLER_TYPE=serverSILENT_UPDATER=falseSILENT_SERIAL_NUMBER=serial-number

Full installation, J2EE configuration

For a new UNIX installation using the J2EE configuration, a sample installer properties file might contain the following text:

INSTALLER_UI=silentSAVE_DEBUG_OUTPUT=trueSILENT_INSTALL_FOLDER=/opt/cfmx-earSILENT_CONTEXT_ROOT=cfusionSILENT_ADMIN_PASSWORD=adminSILENT_INSTALLER_TYPE=earSILENT_UPDATER=falseSILENT_SERIAL_NUMBER=serial-number

For a new Windows installation using the J2EE configuration, a sample installer properties file might contain the following text:

Update ColdFusion MX to ColdFusion MX 6.1, server configuration

You must shutdown existing ColdFusion MX processes or services when updating to ColdFusion MX 6.1. If your ColdFusion MX install uses an external web server, the ColdFusion MX 6.1 silent install automatically updates the web server configuration.

When you open the ColdFusion MX Administrator for the first time, the Configuration and Settings Migration Wizard automatically migrates settings from your previous ColdFusion MX installation.

For an update UNIX installation using the server configuration, a sample installer properties file might contain the following text:

INSTALLER_UI=silentSAVE_DEBUG_OUTPUT=trueUSER_MAGIC_FOLDER_1_1=/usr/local/apache2.0.43/htdocs/CFIDESILENT_INSTALL_FOLDER=/opt/coldfusionmxSILENT_RUNTIME_USER=nobodySILENT_INSTALLER_TYPE=serverSILENT_UPDATER=trueSILENT_LICENSE_MODE=updater

For an update Windows installation using the server configuration, a sample installer properties file might contain the following text:

INSTALLER_UI=silentSAVE_DEBUG_OUTPUT=trueUSER_MAGIC_FOLDER_1_1=c:\\Inetpub\\wwwroot\\CFIDESILENT_INSTALL_FOLDER=c:\\cfusionmxSILENT_RUNTIME_USER=SILENT_INSTALLER_TYPE=serverSILENT_UPDATER=trueSILENT_LICENSE_MODE=updater

Upgrade ColdFusion 5 to ColdFusion MX 6.1, server configuration

Upgrading a ColdFusion 4.5 or ColdFusion 5 installation to ColdFusion MX 6.1 is essentially a new installation. However, you should note the following:

  • If you purchased an upgrade license, you must provide the upgrade serial number and the previous ColdFusion serial number.
  • If you configure a web server connector (SILENT_WEB_SERVER_SELECTION=custom), the previous ColdFusion installation is inaccessible. If you specify SILENT_WEB_SERVER_SELECTION=internal, you can access ColdFusion MX 6.1 through the built-in web server running on port 8500 (with CFM pages stored in cf_root/wwwroot), and continue to access the previous ColdFusion installation through the external web server. With a silent installation, you typically specify SILENT_WEB_SERVER_SELECTION=custom, and run the Web Server Configuration Tool to enable access through an external web server. For more information, see Installing and Using ColdFusion MX.
  • When you open the ColdFusion MX Administrator for the first time, the Configuration and Settings Migration Wizard prompts you to migrate settings from your existing ColdFusion installation.

When upgrading from ColdFusion 4.5 or ColdFusion 5 on UNIX, a sample installer properties file might contain the following text:

INSTALLER_UI=silentSAVE_DEBUG_OUTPUT=trueSILENT_WEBROOT_FOLDER=/usr/local/apache2.0.43/htdocsSILENT_INSTALL_FOLDER=/opt/coldfusionmxSILENT_WEB_SERVER_SELECTION=customSILENT_RUNTIME_USER=nobodySILENT_ADMIN_PASSWORD=adminSILENT_CONFIGURE_SYSTEM_INIT=falseSILENT_INSTALLER_TYPE=serverSILENT_UPDATER=falseSILENT_SERIAL_NUMBER=upgrade-serial-numberSILENT_PREV_SERIAL_NUMBER=previous-serial-number

When upgrading from ColdFusion 4.5 or ColdFusion 5 in Windows, a sample installer properties file might contain the following text:

INSTALLER_UI=silentSAVE_DEBUG_OUTPUT=trueSILENT_WEBROOT_FOLDER=c:\\Inetpub\\wwwrootSILENT_INSTALL_FOLDER=c:\\cfusionmxSILENT_WEB_SERVER_SELECTION=customSILENT_ADMIN_PASSWORD=adminSILENT_CONFIGURE_SYSTEM_INIT=falseSILENT_INSTALLER_TYPE=serverSILENT_UPDATER=falseSILENT_SERIAL_NUMBER=upgrade-serial-numberSILENT_PREV_SERIAL_NUMBER=previous-serial-number
