Extending Contribute
Table of Contents
Advanced users and web administrators of Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 can customize and enhance the capabilities of Macromedia Contribute to meet user requirements. Contribute inherits from Dreamweaver many of the features that you can extend.
Contribute also has the following intrinsic features that you can extend:
- The Contribute Start page
The Start page is an HTML page that appears when you start Contribute (unless you select the preference to display the last page you were viewing when you start). You can customize this page to add branding information or enable users to quickly identify and launch new third-party features.
- Starter pages
Starter pages are prototype pages that users can quickly modify to develop new web pages. You can create and add pages to the set of Contribute starter pages, thereby developing templates that are specifically designed for your website.
- The How Do I panel
The How Do I panel in the sidebar provides a tutorial and information on how to get started, plus quick step-by-step instructions on completing some common tasks when using and administering Contribute. You can add task information to the How Do I panel to provide branding, launch new features, and teach users how to use new features.
- The installer
The installer can install special files, such as your company templates, when it installs the product files.
Note: For information about extending the Contribute Publishing Services API, see the Contribute documentation website at http://www.macromedia.com/go/contribute_docs_en.
