Contribute 3 makes it easy for you to migrate by copying all your preferences, website connections, and administrative settings for you.

Note: You can use Contribute 2 (or earlier) connection keys in Contribute 3, but you cannot use Contribute 3 connection keys in Contribute 2 (or earlier).

To migrate from Contribute 2 to Contribute3:

  1. In Contribute 2, publish or cancel any drafts you're editing, and then close the application.
  2. Install and activate Contribute 3.
  3. Start Contribute 3.

Contribute copies all your preferences and website connections to the new version.

  4. Administer your website.
    1. Select Edit > Administer Website, and then select a website connection.
    2. In the Administer Website dialog box, change administration settings as necessary, or click Close.

You do not have to make any changes in the dialog box.

Contribute imports all of your administration settings to the new version and enables the draft review process for you.

    3. Repeat Steps 4a and 4b for each website you've connected to.

Note: If you are not the Contribute administrator for your website, make sure your administrator administers the website so that all the new Contribute 3 features are available. If you want to use the draft review process you also need to add your name to the list of users for the website. For more information, see Enabling the draft review process (Users only).

  5. Start using Contribute 3.

Contribute 3 is in Transition Mode by default so that users who are using Contribute 2 can continue to connect to the website, along with Contribute 3 users. For more information about Transition Mode, see Allowing users to use earlier versions (Administrators only).

For a list of new Contribute 3 features, see New Contribute 3 features compared to Contribute 2 features.
