Installation Instructions

To install the AltiVecCore Plug-ins Update:
1. Quit Photoshop.
2. Move the AltiVecCore Core plug-in to the Adobe Photoshop 5.5: Plug-Ins: Adobe Photoshop Only: Extensions folder, replacing any earlier version or alias to an earlier version.
3.ᅠ Move the Multiprocessor Extension plug-in to the Adobe Photoshop 5.5: Plug-Ins: Adobe Photoshop Only: Extensions folder, replacing any earlier version.
4.ᅠ Move the LightingEffects plug-in to the Adobe Photoshop 5.5: Plug-Ins: Filters folder, replacing any earlier version.

Note: If you use a G4, Adobe recommends that you delete any earlier versions of the AltiVecCore and Lighting Effects plug-ins that were preinstalled on the system. Also, the interface for the LightingEffects plug-in is available in U.S. English only. If you use a non-English version of Photoshop, installing the LightingEffects plug-in changes the interface of the Lighting Effects filter to U.S. English.

5. Enable the Enable Async I/O extension by renaming the folder called "~Enable Async I/O" to "Enable Async I/O". The Enable Async I/O folder is in the Adobe Photoshop 5.5: Plug-Ins: Adobe Photoshop Only: Extensions folder.

Note: This extension is disabled by default for compatibility with older versions of Mac OS. Users of third-party disk drivers may encounter disk-related problems with this extension enabled. If you do encounter disk-related problems, disable the extension and contact the manufacturer of your disk drivers for updates. Also, if you enable the Enable Async I/O plug-in and then try to start the Danish, Spanish, or Swedish version of Photoshop 5.5, you may receive an error that the Enable Async I/O plug-in could not be loaded. To resolve this problem, download the Enable Async I/O Plug-in Update, available from Adobe's Web site.
