The Acrobat 5.0.5 Accessibility and Forms patch is available for Windows only and addresses known issues in Adobe Acrobat 5.0.5, providing enhanced accessibility features when viewing and creating Adobe PDF files.
The Acrobat 5.0.5 Accessibility and Forms patch fixes problems associated with reading Adobe PDF files:
- Using a Microsoft Active Accessible compliant (MSAA) screen reader to read Adobe PDF forms
- Using GW Micro's Window-Eyes screen reader to recognize tables in an Adobe PDF document
- Using GW Micro's Window-Eyes screen reader to edit and fill in Adobe PDF forms
- Using Freedom Scientific's JAWS screen reader to read umlauted characters correctly
The Acrobat 5.0.5 Accessibility and Forms patch fixes problems associated with creating and interacting with Adobe PDF files:
- Using the Save As Text (Accessible) feature
- Allows the same checkbox behavior as in Acrobat 4.0, enabling checkboxes with the same field name in a single Adobe PDF form to all be checked if any are selected

After downloading a ".exe" file in Windows, double-click on the ".exe" file to access the file's contents.

To install the patch, you must have Acrobat 5.0.5. If you do not have Acrobat 5.0.5, download and install the Acrobat 5.0.5 update before installing the Accessibility and Forms patch. To find out which version of Acrobat you currently have, choose Help > About Adobe Acrobat. The version number appears in the upper left corner, next to the Adobe logo.
