The Adobeﾮ After Effectsﾮ 5.5.1 update addresses several issues identified in After Effects 5.5.
The most significant changes made for this update include:
ﾕ View options are now saved correctly in the preferences file.
ﾕ Problems working with Electric Image and 16-bit Maya IFF files are resolved.
ﾕ New blend modes introduced in Adobe Photoshopﾮ 7.0 are now preserved on import.
ﾕ Adobe Premiereﾮ 6.5 titles now import as solids instead of "missing footage" placeholders.
ﾕ Adobe Premiere project import now preserves in and out points for missing footage.
ﾕ TIFF output from After Effects no longer generates a warning when imported into Photoshop 7.0.1.
ﾕ Several Standard and Advanced 3D Renderer anomalies are corrected.

Note: The After Effects 5.5.1 update will modify only After Effects 5.5 Standard version or Production Bundle. It will work with the retail, education, and OEM versions of the product.

To install the After Effects 5.5.1 update:
1. Log in as Adminstrator.
2. Close After Effects 5.5.
2. Double-click the After Effects 5.5.1 Setup.exe file.
3. Follow the onscreen instructions.
Note: If you are updating After Effects 5.5 to 5.5.1 on Windowsﾮ XP, you must first install Windows XP Service Pack 1. Also, if After Effects 5.5 has been moved from its original install location, the patch will fail. You must reinstall a fresh copy of After Effects 5.5 in this case.
