This update addresses several potential vulnerabilities in Adobeﾮ Acrobatﾮ Professional and Acrobat Standard software versions 6.0-6.0.2. Note that currently there are no known malicious exploits of these vulnerabilities.
Adobe recommends that all users of Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional and Acrobat Standard apply this update as a proactive measure.
This update addresses three issues:
ﾕ Preventing playback of malicious content in Macromediaﾮ Flashﾙ media embedded in a PDF file. For more information, see Support Knowledgebase document #321328.
ﾕ Vulnerabilities in the PNG library (libpng version 1.2.5) that could be exploited with malformed PNG images. For more information, see CAN-2004-0597.
ﾕ An issue with how the eBook plug-in works with ETD files during digital edition transactions. For more information, see CAN-2004-1153.

This update requires that Adobe Acrobat 6.0.2 Professional or Standard is installed on your system.
If you have version 6.0 of Acrobat Professional or Standard installed, you can update your product to version 6.0.3a in two ways:
1. Select the Updates menu entry to retreive and install the updates to version 6.0.1 and 6.0.2 in succession.
This automatic update option is not yet available for the 6.0.3a update for Adobe Acrobat. Once the update to version 6.0.2 is complete, you must download the update to version 6.0.3a from this page and install it using the instructions in the section below.
2. Download and apply each update individually. Depending on the current version of your product, you may have to download and apply all three updates:
ﾕ This update (6.0.3a)
ﾕ The 6.0.2 update for Acrobat 6.0 Professional or Standard
ﾕ The 6.0.1 update for Acrobat 6.0 Professional or Acrobat 6.0 Standard
Apply the updates as needed in order (6.0.1, then 6.0.2, then 6.0.3a) to bring your product up to date.
Note that the version you will see in the 'Acrobat:About Acrobat' dialog box will display "6.0.3" once you have applied this update, not "6.0.3a."
After downloading the Acro-Reader_603a_Upd_Pkg.dmg file, double-click it to begin the update process.
Note: This update has been re-released for the Mac OS platform as 6.0.3a, due to a problem contained in the initial 6.0.3 update. The original 6.0.3 update was posted December 12-13, 2004, and is called Acro-Reader_603_Upd_Pkg.dmg.
If you have already installed the original 6.0.3 update to Adobe Acrobat 6.0.2 Professional or Standard:
ﾕ You do not need to apply the 6.0.3a revised update.
ﾕ The vulnerabilities listed above have been patched.
ﾕ The problem in the 6.0.3 file involved an attempt to fix a minor pre-existing bug. Look for an update on this site when that issue is resolved.
