Camera Raw 3.1 update

This new version of the Camera Raw plug-in replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Adobeᆴ Photoshopᆴ CS2 and Photoshop Elements 3.0 software. Visit the Camera Raw page for a complete list of supported cameras. Find out more about the new DNG format, which is also supported in Camera Raw.

Support for the following cameras has been added in this update:


  • Canon EOS Rebel XT (EOS 350D/EOS Kiss Digital N)
  • Nikon D2X
  • Olympus EVOLT E-300
  • Olympus C-7070 Wide Zoom

The Camera Raw 3.1 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than Photoshop CS2 or versions of Photoshop Elements earlier than Photoshop Elements 3.0.

Installation Instructions

To open a DMG file:
Double-click the file. This will open Disk Copy, which mounts the image on your desktop.

For Camera Raw 3.1:
This new version of the Camera Raw plug-in replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Photoshop CS2. Before you copy or move the new plug-in into your plug-in folder (see steps 2 and 3 below for the specific folder), move the existing Camera Raw plug-in to a folder outside the Plug-Ins folder, for example, into a new folder on the desktop. Remember where you put the original plug-in, in case you ever need to revert.

To install (CS2):


  1. Exit Photoshop CS2.
  2. Open the Finder.
  3. Navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS2/File Formats.
  4. Move the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert.
  5. Copy the new Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in Step 3.
  6. Launch Photoshop CS2 or Adobe Bridge.

This new version of the Camera Raw plug-in also replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Photoshop Elements 3.0.

To install:

  1. Exit Photoshop Elements.
  2. Open the Finder.
  3. Navigate to Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 3/Plug-Ins/File Formats.
  4. Move the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert.
  5. Copy the new Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in Step 3.
  6. Launch Photoshop Elements.
