This archive contains an updated version of QuarkXPress Converter 3.0, which was previously available between May 12, 1997, and March 13, 1998. Adobe recommends that you download and install this updated version, which provides additional features and resolves problems with the previous version as described below.
The QuarkXPress Converter enables you to convert QuarkXPress publications to Adobe PageMaker 6.5 publications. The converter opens QuarkXPress publications created in Mac OS or Windows and maps QuarkXPress elements to corresponding elements in PageMaker 6.5.
QuarkXPress Converter 3.01 resolves the following problem since version 3.0 was released on May 12, 1997:
- PageMaker no longer quits when transforming (moving, resizing, rotating, skewing, or cropping) converted graphics.
QuarkXPress Converter 3.0 introduced the following new or changed features since the release of PageMaker 6.5. These features also exist in version 3.01:
- Polygon objects in QuarkXPress are converted to polygon objects in PageMaker.
- QuarkXPress documents are converted to PageMaker 6.5 publications. (The converter no longer converts directly to PageMaker 6.0 or earlier publications.)
- Items with runarounds are converted with or without text wrap in PageMaker.
- Picture boxes in QuarkXPress are converted to standalone graphics or graphics in frames in PageMaker.
- Single-column text boxes in QuarkXPress are converted to text frames or text blocks in PageMaker.
- Multi-column text boxes in QuarkXPress are converted to threaded text frames or threaded text blocks in PageMaker.
QuarkXPress Converter 3.01 supports documents created originally in Windows QuarkXPress versions 3.1, 3.12, 3.2, 3.3, 3.31, and 3.32; 68K Macintosh versions 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.31 and 3.32; and Power Macintosh versions 3.31 and 3.32. The converter cannot convert document pages saved as EPS files or documents created originally in Macintosh versions earlier than 3.1, even if the documents were subsequently opened and saved in a later version of QuarkXPress.
