Caching sources of dynamic content

By default, Dreamweaver MX caches a source of dynamic content such as a recordset when you create or modify it.

To check whether caching is turned on:

1 Open the page's Bindings panel (Window > Bindings).
2 Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Macintosh) anywhere in the panel.
A short pop-up menu appears.

3 Make sure a check mark appears next to the Cache option.
If, for whatever reason, you turn off caching while connected to your database and then try to work on pages while disconnected from the database server, the Bindings panel will no longer correctly display recordset columns. As a result, you will no longer be able to add database content—or server behaviors using that content—to your pages. To cache your recordsets, first reconnect to your database. Next, turn caching back on (see the procedure above for details). You can now disconnect from the database server again and work on your dynamic pages.

Note: If you turn off caching for one page, you turn it off globally for all pages and sites in Dreamweaver MX.
