Installing a sample template in a site

Use a sample template to create a new site or add files from a sample template to an existing site in Dreamweaver.

To install a template into a new site:

1 Download the sample template files onto your desktop.
A folder containing the sample templates files is added to your desktop. For example, if you download the E-Zine sample template, a folder titled DW Templates-Ezine is added to your desktop.
2 In Dreamweaver, choose Site > New Site.
3 For Site Name, enter a name for the new site that you want to create.
4 For Local Root Folder, click the folder icon and select the sample site folder inside the sample template folder on your desktop.
For example, if you download the E-Zine sample template, select the Ezine Sample Site folder, inside the DW Templates-Ezine folder.
5 Click OK.
For more information on creating a local site, see "Site Planning" in Dreamweaver Help.
To install a template into an existing site:

1 Download the sample template files onto your desktop.
After the downloaded files are decompressed, a folder containing the sample templates files is added to your desktop.
2 Open the sample site folder.
The sample site folder contains a Templates folder with the .dwt template files, an Images folder with the .gif or .jpg files, a Fireworks folder with .png files, and a Library folder with .lbi files. The sample site folder also contains .html files, sample HTML pages based on the site's templates.
3 Do one of the following:
If the existing site to which you are adding the templates does not contain a Templates folder, copy the Templates folder from the sample site into the folder for the existing site.
If the existing site to which you are adding the templates already contains a Templates folder, copy the template files from the Templates folder in the sample site to the Templates folder in the existing site. Make sure that you don't overwrite any existing template files.
4 Repeat step 3 for the Images, Fireworks, or Library folders if they are present in the sample site folder:
If the existing site does not contain an Images, Fireworks, or Library folder, copy the respective folder from the sample site folder to the existing site folder.
If the existing site already contains an Images, Fireworks, or Library folder, copy the files from the respective folder in the sample site folder into the corresponding folder in the existing site. Make sure that you don't overwrite any existing files.
