Creating a preloader Smart Clip with Flash 5

Smart Clips are reusable, customizable movie clips. They're useful for passing complicated Flash elements from a programmer to a designer. With Smart Clips, a programmer can write actions that a designer can reuse and customize without having to open the Actions panel.

In this tutorial, you'll assemble and use a preloader Smart Clip. This Smart Clip lets you customize how many frames of a Flash movie must download before it begins to play. It also lets you enter a customized text message.

Download the Windows tutorial file (548K)
Download the Macintosh tutorial file (756K)

When the file decompresses, a folder named Preloader_tutorial is created on your system.

To make the best use of this tutorial, you should understand the basic principles of ActionScript.
