This article tells you why you install JRun with Generator, what you to do if you must upgrade to JRun 2.2, and some of JRun's features you can use to debug your web site.
The installer for Generator's server component automatically installs JRun 2.1. JRun resides on the same computer as your web server and allows you to deploy the servlets that come with Generator. Generator uses JRun to render the servlets that dynamically produce types of multimedia content such as Flash, GIF, animated GIF, JPEG, and PNG files. Servlets are small Java programs that enhance your web server's functionalities.
Because Generator's servlets are specifically designed for Live Software's JRun Servlet Engine, you currently cannot use other servlet engines with Generator. For more detailed information about JRun, visit the JRun web site.
