System configuration

This section describes the hardware and software configuration for the client and server components of the test.

 
Client specifications
The tests used the Microsoft Web Application Stress Tool as the client, running on Microsoft Windows 2000, SP2. The tests used the following two client computers:

Client one Single processor Intel Pentium III 866 MHz Compaq deskproEN with 512MB RAM and Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Client two Dual processor Pentium III 733 MHz HP Kayak800 with 512MB RAM and Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional

The network used for the tests was 100BaseTX NIC operating on Auto.

 
JRun specifications
Macromedia JRun 4 was configured with the following settings:

Active threads: 50
JRun web server
Sun JDK 1.3.1_02

The server computer was a dual processor Intel Pentium III Xeon 1000 MHz Compaq SP 750 with 1024MB RAM and Microsoft Windows 2000 Server.

 
Tomcat specifications
Tomcat 4.0.3 was configured with the following settings:

Active threads: 50
Tomcat internal web server
Sun JDK 1.3.1_02

The server computer was a dual processor Intel Pentium III Xeon 1000 MHz Compaq SP 750 with 1024MB RAM and Microsoft Windows 2000 Server.
