Shockwave Audio Streaming using SoundEdit 16
This guide is intended for people who do not own Macromedia Director but would like to use Shockwave Audio to stream high quality audio over the Internet. The document demonstrates how to use one or more of the Shockwave movies included in the SWA Examples folder to serve your own Shockwave Audio (SWA) files from your web site using the absolute minimum set of tools. We'll start with a brief look at how to create a SWA file for streaming and then show you how to modify the example files to work with our files and web site.
To complete these examples you will need the following:
- A Power Macintosh computer
- Macromedia SoundEdit 16 version 2 (version 2.0.7 recommended)
- SWA Settings (SE16) Xtra
- SWA Export Xtra
- Netscape Navigator 2.2 or higher (Navigator 3.0 recommended)
- Macromedia Shockwave for Macintosh (available as a separate download)
- A text editor
- An Internet account and software to upload your work to your site
- A basic familiarity with HTML
Make sure that the SWA Export Xtra and the SWA Settings (SE16) Xtra are properly installed. They can reside either in the Xtras folder in your SoundEdit 16 folder or in the Xtras folder in the Macromedia folder in your System Folder. We recommend that you put them into your SoundEdit 16 Xtras folder. If you do not already have them, you may download the required SWA Xtras now.
