| The SVG designer used Adobe® Illustrator® 9's ability to import other vector formats to create the complex and accurate floor plans featured in this application. Because the Adobe floor plans were available as PDF documents, the designer was able to use them as a template for the project. The vector artwork could have been used as they were imported, but because the designer wanted to simplify and optimize the illustration, he used the images as a tracing source. While compiling all of the floor plans into a single Illustrator document, the designer was also able to determine what graphic elements were shared between floors and what elements were different. These differences became overlays on a template floor plan that would be switched on and off via scripts created by the developer on the project. The Illustrator Layers Palette enabled the designer to both set id's on individual elements and groups, and preview showing and hiding elements for each floor. |
