Designer provides art and Developer adds functionality
| In the Charts and Graphs application, the designer and developer first met to determine the design requirements for the project. The critical elements for their workflow would include the various template objects such as the size and shape of the pie chart, colors, text placement, font-faces, and font-sizes. |
| Given these requirements, the designer used Adobe® Illustrator® 9 to set up sample layouts while the developer scripted the charting and graphing functions. The designer created sample objects such as the pie chart and individual slices in order to communicate placement, scale and color schemes to the developer. Because these objects in the application would be dynamically generated, the designer structured the Illustrator and exported SVG so that template objects could be referred to and easily stripped out by the developer. |
