Sunil Hadap
Research Manager

Apart from my own research contribution, I am a research manager in ATL. Our team focuses on the use of high-performance computing, available in workstations and future desktops, to develop design paradigms and user experiences of the future. Some specific topics that the group focuses on are:

  • Animation — Inverse Kinematics, Skinning, Articulated Rigid Bodies, Motion Editing and Retargeting, Autonomous Agents
  • Simulation — Fluid Simulation, Paint Effects, Rigid Bodies, Deformable Models & Cloth
  • Computational Imaging — PDEs for Image Enhancement, Super-resolution, Inverse Problems in Image Processing, Deblurring and Defocus, Lighting Estimation
  • Multi-CPU and GPU computations, Parallel Algorithms, Scheduling and Cache Performance
  • Computational Displays, Multi-modal User Experience

My current research interests are Lattice Boltzmann Computing, Visco-elastic Fluids, Rigid Bodies, Paint Effects, Upsampling, Denoising, Defocus, Lighting Estimation.

I will be offering two internships during the summer of 2008:

  • Developing rigid body solver
  • Propose me a fancy research topic

You must have wondered how they did the hair in "Shrek The Third" and the foliage in "Madagascar". Before joining Adobe, I worked at PDI/DreamWorks for four years (2003-2006) developing some cool special effects and character dynamics technologies — strand & hair dynamics, rigid bodies, particles and fluids.

I finished my PhD from MIRALab, University of Geneva in 2003.
