View the photos in a stack.

Select the stack and choose Edit > Stack > Reveal Photos In Stack. You can also right-click a stack and choose Stack > Reveal Photos In Stack from the context menu.

The Photo Browser shows only the photos in the stack. When stacked photos are spread out in the Photo Browser, the stack is expanded. When the stacked photos are piled together, the stack is collapsed.

Tip: To remove a photo from a stack, first expand it using the Reveal Photos In Stack command. Then right-click the photo and choose Stack > Remove Photo From Stack.

Place your favorite photo at the top of the stack.

Select your favorite photo in an expanded stack and choose Edit > Stack > Set As Top Photo. You can also right-click the photo and choose Stack > Set As Top Photo in the context menu. Click the Back To All Photos button to collapse the stack and view your entire catalog in the Photo Browser.

Now, the Photo Browser displays the best photo in the series. All the “runners-up” are hidden in the stack.

step05_int
Change from one view to another.

Choose View > Expand All Stacks or choose View > Collapse All Stacks.

You need to expand a stack if you are searching on a tag and want to include stacked photos in the search. You must also expand a stack if you want to tag or edit photos in the stack. If the stack is collapsed, you can tag or edit only the topmost photo.
