Overview
Under the Student Licensing Option, a higher education institution enrolled in the Adobe Open Options CLP volume licensing program can purchase selected Adobe software at significant discounts for redistribution or resale to students. The process sets up amazing rewards for students and the institution:
- The institution can resell the software licenses to students—passing the savings on to them.
- Software—and the savings—can be distributed to students as part of course or lab fees.
- The institution’s Student Licensing Option orders add to the points credited to the school’s CLP discount level.

Q. Who can purchase Adobe software under the Student Licensing Option?
A. To be eligible, institutions must meet all of the following criteria:
- Qualified institutions of higher education in the United States and Canada
- Have CLP 4.0 or CLP 4.5 memberships with Adobe.
- Sign a Student Licensing Option enrollment schedule to be eligible for ordering under the Student Licensing Option.
Q. What software is available through the Student Licensing Option?
A. There are seven packages available:
- Adobe® Creative Suite® 3 Design Premium*
- Adobe® Creative Suite® 3 Design Standard*
- Adobe® Creative Suite® 3 Web Standard*
- Adobe® Creative Suite® 3 Production Premium*
- Adobe® Creative Suite® 3 Master Collection*

- Adobe Acrobat® 3D*
- Adobe Photoshop Lightroom*
Q. Is there a minimum order requirement?
A. Each order must include a minimum of 25 units. A mixture of products and platforms may be used to meet this order minimum.
Q. What do I receive when I participate in the Student Licensing Option?
A. Higher education institutions will receive one license and one CD per unit of product ordered. Once the student has received the license and CD, the student simply logs in to a dedicated Adobe website to register the license and unlock the software.
Q. What are the discount levels?
A. There is no special discount level under the Student Licensing Option, regardless of the number of products purchased or the higher education institution's CLP discount level. However, the higher education institution earns points toward its CLP discount level for all software ordered through the Student Licensing Option.
Q. Can faculty members acquire software licenses through the Student Licensing Option?
A. No. Only students may receive the software through this option. Faculty and other higher education institution staff are eligible for discounted Adobe software licenses through the institution’s membership in CLP 4.0 or 4.5.
Q. Can students order Upgrade Plan for their licenses?
A. No. Student licenses are treated like retail (shrinkwrap) licenses, which do not offer Upgrade Plan. Students may purchase commerical upgrades for their licenses when new versions of products are released.
