Poetics of Space Poetics of Space was a series of three films for Popo, a group of interior architects and designers. "They present a view on spaces of the mind and heart, places to build up an understanding based on personal motivation rather than the spatial and geographic constraints offered by architecture," Tom says. Offen, here, uses After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop to achieve the effect of architects' blueprints, adding "echoes and traces of thoughts, looking at spaces as tunnels, connections, openings, gaps, forests, paths, points of connection." |

Tom feels that motion editing software is "like a word processor. The edit files are so small - all the footage you use is a placeholder, so it's just like a bunch of text lines with all the decisions. You ask yourself what the hell all these lines mean, but gradually you get an idea. It's a dialogue between tool and work, and once again it's helping you think about ideas for future projects."
