Mercurio Adolescente (the Adolescent Mercury)
Depicting Mercury, the Romans' winged messenger of the gods, as an adolescent, this was a winner in the 1997 Adobe Power of Design competition. In 1998 the image appeared in Electronic Workshop, a book from Swiss publisher Rotovision. It was inspired by the Flemish painter Jan Van Eyck's Portrait of Margaretha Van Eyck (1439) in which Bavari was struck by 'the solemnity of the person depicted' (the artist's wife).
