Anacoreta
Anacoreta means a hermit. The inspiration for this piece came from the film of the same name by the Spanish surrealist film-maker Luis Bunuel, which tells the story of such a man, who spent his entire life perched at the top of a column. The armatured globe-like structure suggests the physical limitations of the life he has chosen, while the rose represents its spiritual nature.
