Guardinfante (Crinoline)

This image was inspired by the dress habits of 18th century ladies of the court, in particular the voluminous hooped skirts or crinolines they wore, inside which the children would hide, hence the Italian name meaning 'guarding the infant'. But in Bavari's world, the skirt has become a cage and the child an animal skeleton.
