This illustration appeared as a cover for "Sunday You Learn How to Box," a novel by Bil Wright. The story deals with a young boy growing up in a bad neighbourhood in Connecticut and trying to come to grips with his fractured family and his own sexuality. It is largely a grim tale, but Loughran tried to capture both the hope and helplessness of the story with this image. While the boy looks down in a depressed posture, Loughran introduced the bright blue colour to signify the rays of hope in the novel.
