Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 4 5 837 837
Something New Every Time I'm a Lightroom neophyte so this review is based on the impression this program is making on me. Coming from a Photoshop/Bridge background I had a difficult time envisioning where Lightroom would fit into my photo flow. I had my routine. Still a recent upgrade offer made the opportunity to move to Lightroom irresistible. That, and the fact that I need a better image management system. I do sports photography and that means I take a LOT of pictures at any given outing. Now I'm finding people going "remember that picture you took three years ago?". Yeah, maybe not. I needed something to make photo management easier. Lightroom is filling that bill with flying colours. My first couple of uses of Lightroom saw me emulating the workflow I was familiar with while using Bridge. That is to say, Lightroom was little more than a keyword sorter for my images. Still even with this lowly assignment I was impressed with the photo management features that Lightroom offered. That was then. Now, with two months of experience with Lightroom I'm finding it even more versatile. Every time I open and explore in Lightroom I'm finding a cool "new" feature that is making my photo handling easier. I could list all the things I like about Lightroom but I am, after all, still learning how to incorporate this program into my workflow. I'm sure my list of "likes" will be quite a bit different in another six months. Lightroom is a large program with a lot of features. You won't learn it in a day or a week. But you will learn . . . to love it. 25-July-2012
Post processing is much easier I use Lightroom 4 as my primary post processing software. 98% of all of my post processing is done within Lightroom. I find the ability to upload images directly to Flickr, SmugMug, or any of the other image sharing sites as well as my own website to be the ultimate in total image processing and sharing. I have very little interest in any other post processing software. If I have a need to enhance my processing I can add plug-ins to tweak or add more adjustment or I can send the image directly to Photoshop without having to save and reopen, etc. Also knowing that all of my adjustments are non-destructive gives me the liberty to play around with the image. If I don't like what I have done, I just hit the reset button and instantly the image is back to it's original condition. A photographer's best post processing friend. 13-June-2012
Terrific software After trying so many other products, this is the only one that does what i want. Great program, i will recommend this to others. Contrary to what some people , say it is NOT that difficult to learn. You just have to give it a chance. Do NOT give up to soon!!!! 08-January-2012
Amateur software Since I started using a camera specific software long ago, I was hoping Lightroom would be a decent replacement for some Photoshop actions that are absent from the camera specific software I now use. Photoshop, which I had been using since the first versions almost 20 years ago, is powerful and professional software. Lightroom is at the editing standard of Photoshop Elements, with a few bells and whistles added for image file type handling, file organisation and networking added. Basically, if you are a hobbyist with a pro-sumer camera and want to take advantage of raw file editing, then Lightroom may be what you're looking for. For the working pro, you would be much less disappointed if you stick to upgrading with photoshop. 19-May-2013
