Hi, I'm Steve Saiz of the Dalé Zine Art bookshop and Gallery, and this is my dog, Billy.
Today we're going to be showing you guys how we make a zine using Adobe Illustrator.
Come on in.
Let's get started.
First, you want to think about what your zine concept is going to be.
A zine could be about literally anything you want.
We want to think about what are we going to do today.
So what's our zine going to consist of?
Let's do a Billy zine!
Grab some pencils, paper, markers, whatever you prefer to do your sketches with.
Now that we have our Billy the Dog illustrations, we're going to use our old printer here to photocopy and re-scan them.
That way we can bring them back into Photoshop and Illustrator.
Once we do that, I add some adjustments, we're going to bring it into our zine file and start laying out our pagination.
Let's do our next page here.
Now that we scanned our Billy sketches, let's get them into Photoshop and Illustrator.
We're going to run some adjustments and get them ready for our zine layout.
We have these scans in our Photoshop file here, we're just going to run some Levels, make sure it's nice and contrasty and then we're going to save each image out as a JPEG to throw into our Illustrator file, so we can start building our zine.
Here I'm just doing some light adjustments using the Brush Tool, and then again using our Levels to do some last-minute touches.
Stay tuned for the next segment where we're going to throw our scans into our Adobe Illustrator file.
