15.008.20082 Planned update, July 14, 2015

This release is a planned update for the products listed in the table below. The latest version is always available through the product’s update mechanism, from the enterprise FTP site, and for some languages, from the Reader Download Center.

Track details

The Acrobat DC product family introduces two tracks for both Acrobat and Reader which are essentially different products: “Classic” and “Continuous.” Most end users will install the Continuous track provided from the Reader Download Center. Enterprise organizations will user either the Classic or Continuous track. For details and a comparison of the two tracks, see http://www.adobe.com/go/acrobatdctracks.

New product features

This release provides various new features for end users described in the New features summary.

Enterprise-Centric features

For details about all of these features, refer to the Administration Guide.

  • AppV scripts and guidelines have been released for both Acrobat and Reader.

  • An AcrobatCleaner for DC products has been posted on LABs. Use this tool to do a clean uninstall.

  • ADM starter templates have been released.

  • SCUP catalogs are updated.

  • A new APTEE tool version (9.0.0.2) is released and available from the Licensing Web Site.

  • Some services can now be disable and enabled from the Enterprise Dashboard.

  • 11.x and DC products can now coexist on the same machine. In the past, two versions of Acrobat or Reader could not reside on the same machine.

  • The conversion from a trial version to the classic now occurs inside the product as described in https://helpx.stage.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/convert-from-trial-to-classic.html.

  • Signature profile and appearance synchronization now occurs across all devices and the web. Non digital signature appearances (those associated with Adobe eSign (EchoSign) are synchronized between eSign, Fill & Sign on the web, mobile apps, and the desktop. Signatures or initials created in eSign will now be available in Fill & Sign, and vice versa. When the application detects signatures saved in different apps, users are asked which one should be retained.

  • A new preference allows admins to disable scanned document editing would be disabled in Acrobat. See DisableScannedDocumentEditing in the Preference Reference.

  • Disabling upsell is now possible for users with volume licenses.

Security bulletin

This release provides mitigations for vulnerabilities described in the corresponding security bulletins of Reader and Acrobat.

  • 3957373: Allow the same types of documents (PDF, non-PDF) in Send for Signature as the ones permitted on EchoSign Web.

  • 3951750: Send and Track Outlook add-in should be subject to control of the master switch “bToggleAdobeDocumentServices”.

  • 3951703: Cannot open more than one cloud file from Home view > Recent.

  • 3944328: No thumbnails shown for any file in one window, if two documents opened and user switches to Thumbnail view in both.

  • 3931760: User cannot open a cloud file from Recent in thumbnail view till all thumbnails have been fetched.

  • 3951389: Acrobat/Reader crashes on quit when not connected to network in signed-in state.

  • 3951148: Email pattern not captured in Mark for Redaction.

  • 3947955: Invoking Embedding Index via Tool’s Search Hangs Acrobat and after that user can’t cancel or quit Acrobat.
